10 copywriting tips to transform bland words into irresistible offers
Without being a copywriter.
You’ve spent countless hours crafting the perfect product.
Your marketing campaign is working.
You’re seeing loads of traffic on your website.
But alas, you’re not making any sales.
There’s just one problem — your words don’t seem to do your product justice.
They’re bland, uninspiring, and frankly, forgettable.
What if there was a way to transform those into an irresistible offer that compels your audience to hit the ‘buy now’ button?
We will do that with only 10 tips — that will transform your copy.
1. Start your CTA with a verb or first person
It makes your reader come into a more pro-active position.
It helps create a sense of urgency and involvement for your reader.

2. Use your prospect’s name if you’re going into their inbox.
Any DM, offer, or personal email you write, use their names.
Even if you have to DM 900 people, use names in the message.
I received a message from my college’s club
“Beloved Alumnus, you’ve been an essence..”
Imagine how impactful “Arunima, you’ve been an essence..” would be.
3. Loss > Gain
The want to averse loss is more powerful than the want of gain.
It’s the psychological theory of loss aversion — people tend to experience the pain of losing something more intensely than the pleasure of gaining something of equal value

4. Numbers are sexy
Be specific. Use numbers. They’re sexy.
Numbers let people imagine the specific tangible output they’re going to get.
Don’t say “Save time” when you can say “Save 10 hours every week”
2x your leads > Get more leads
Convert 10% > Convert your page more
Lose 10lbs in 1 week > Lose weight consistently
5. You > I
The biggest mistake people do in their landing pages is talking about themselves.
How many times do you care about what a company’s objectives are?
No one cares about you.
No one cares why you made it.
They only care what they are going to get.
Check the You vs I ratio in your copy.

6. Test your copy
No one wants to read an academic research paper in your day.
Whatever you write should be at max — 8th grader level.
To check this, paste your prose in Hemingway app
It shows your reading level, and how many difficult sentences you have.
Example — Till now, this article is 2nd grade level — which is great.
It means, it’s easy to understand and you can skim through it.
7. Your writing should cascade
Rarely anyone talks about this, but you should not circle around in your sales page.
Problem
Solution
Problem
Persuading bla bla bla
That’s tiring.
Start with problem. Talk life. Talk solution. Offer.
Do anything but don’t circle.
8. Will you talk about this in a bar?
Don’t make a story for the sake of it.
Don’t be funny and casual for the sake of it.
People catch dishonesty and pretentiousness — even in words.
Storytelling works.
But don’t make up lame forceful stories that smell fake miles away.
Your story should be interesting enough to share in a bar with friends.
If you won’t tell that story at your dinner table, don’t use it in your copy.
9. Let go of English grammar
Start your sentences with “And..” “But..”
If it brings a human touch in your writing, use it.
I use sentences like “You must be thinking — DAMN Arunima, why are we talking about this…but hear me out”
Talk to your reader.
Let them know you know them.
10. How would you talk to your friends?
Start your copy by thinking how you’ll introduce it to your friends.
Imagine that conversation.
Play it out in your head.
Use the juicy bits.
If you start with “I have to write an article” you’ll end up with a boring piece.
You’re not writing. You’re talking.
Remember this.
To summarize:
- Use verbs or first person in your CTAs
- Use names in inboxes
- Loss > Gain
- Use numbers.
- You > I
- Use Hemigway app
- Cascade not circle
- If not in bar, then not here
- Let go of English Grammar
- Write how you’d talk to friends
That’s it.
Hope it helped.
